A leading car insurance group has expressed the desire to renew their mobile app. ThoughtWorks had 1 week to envision a new concept for the new app, prototype it and validate it with users.

WE THOUGHT TO WHO COULD USE THE APP
PARENTS & SONS
Parents who use technology and want to monitor their children's use of the car.
Young couples or brothers who share the car while saving on insurance.
WE HAVE ANALYSED THE DATA FROM CURRENT APIS
Our designers work together with the developers. We identified the APIs and used the technological constraints to inform our design, and understand what information we were able to display.
collaborative design & storyboarding
I drew a storyboard for the driver Abdul, one of goCatch main personas in order to validate my screens sketches. The team reviewed everyone else’s sketches in order to organize the best solutions in one set of sketches for the driver and one for the passenger.
WE HAVE CREATED A PAPER PROTOTYPE TO SHARE OUR IDEAS
goCatch organized 6 interviews with passengers and new users. As a team we set the recruitment brief, we wrote the script for the interviews and we created some interactive prototypes. We tested the booking process for the current application, the passenger ideal path and our new ideas.
AND WE HAVE ITERATED ON OUR PROTOTYPE
goCatch gave us the opportunity to conduct contextual inquiries, observing drivers and passengers using the application in their natural environment. We wrote the scripts for the interviews and we role-played the scripts in order to test them.
WE SHOWED THE PROTOTYPE TO A FEW POTENTIAL USERS
During the contextual inquiries we divided into two groups. Every group had the chance to interview 3 drivers and one passenger. I have also conducted contextual inquiries on my own on another 3 goCatch drivers. After the interview we wrote the transcript and we filled a shared spreadsheet to collect the data.
AND WE HAVE LISTENED

THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE IMAGINED
MAX FEELS IN CONTROL THANKS TO THE NEW DASHBOARD
USEFUL INFORMATION ARE AFTER THE FIRST CLICK.. AND EVEN BEFORE IT
Giorgia shares the car with her brother. They live in the center of Bologna and always park in different places.
WE HAVE IDENTIFIED THE MOST USEFUL FEATURE
FIND MY CAR IN ONE CLICK
Giorgia leaves home, last night her brother took the car and she forgot to ask where he parked.
Giorgia is already late for an important meeting.
Instead of having to go back or call your brother, open the app that in one click begins the search for his car.
THE APP HELPS YOU WITHOUT OPENING IT
Laura is Marco's mother. He worries when Marco comes out car because he has only been driving for 1 month
These are Marco and Anna. Tonight Marco went to get Anna to go to a concert.
Quick and easy setting of limits with presets
As soon as Marco leaves, Laura opens the app to see if the speed limit and zone limit are active.
The app saves the last limit. So with a single click Laura manages to activate the speed limit keeping the last setting.
Marco is a new driver, by law he can not exceed 100 km / h. This is why Laura keeps the app set to 100 km / h.
